Quick window cleaning in spring

1. Cleaning glass surfaces with an environment-friendly homemade cleaning agent
Since we care what kind of environment our children will live in, we support the use of cleaning agents that are friendly to people and the environemnt. Make your own environment-friendly window cleaner in a spray bottle. Add the following three ingredients and shake:
- 2 cups of water,
- ¼ cup of clear vinegar,
- ½ teaspoon of dishwashing detergent.
Clean the glass surfaces with a soft cloth made of microfibres or faux leather.
2. Cleaning wooden surfaces and applying a caring milk
First clean the wooden surfaces with the cleaning agent from the first section or with a highly diluted pH-neutral ecological detergent. Then rinse the surface with water or wipe with a damp cloth. Apply a caring milk using a soft cloth, spreading the milk evenly in a thin layer across the surface in the direction of the wood texture.
Why is it so important to apply caring milk?
Caring milk for wooden windows is specifically designed for maintaining varnished wooden surfaces. The product seals micro pores or cracks, protects wooden frames from external influences and refreshes the colour tone. We recommend applying caring milk twice a year, as this simple procedure refreshes the surface and helps extend the life of the coating. Caring milk can be purchased at Jelovica sales points.
Is cleaning enough?
In case of mechanical damage (for instance in the event of hail) on varnished surfaces or if cracks in the coating are noticeable, usual maintenance with caring milk is not sufficient, but it is necessary to repair the surfaces. This means that the wooden surfaces must be sanded and impregnation applied, followed by a final varnish in the shade of the existing window surface treatment.
It is best to entrust the quality execution of window restoration to experts. If you think your windows need renovation, we recommend that you contact our professional service staff and we will arrange a date for the execution.

3. Cleaning half-olives, handles and other visible fittings and seals
Clean the half-olives, handles, seals and other visible fittings with the homemade cleaning agent from section 1. Use a soft cloth or, even better, an old cotton T-shirt for cleaning.
4. Caring for aluminium surfaces
It is important to clean at a moderate surface temperature. The surface should not be directly exposed to the sun during cleaning. Clean the aluminuim parts of the windows with mild liquid soap and a soft cloth. For very dirty surfaces, use benzene. Cleaners containing aggressive substances are not suitable. After cleaning, rinse the surface with clean water and wipe with a soft cloth.
5. Cleaning external sills
In winter, stubborn dirt often accumulates on external window sills. But no worries, you can clean them very easily using a trick known already by our grandmothers.
Sprinkle some baking soda on the window sill, spray on some vinegar and make sure bubbles are formed. Clean the dirt with a sponge or cloth (do not use rough sponges that could damage the surface), rinse with water or wipe with the cleaning agent from section 1.
Now admire the view through your windows and enjoy the awakening of nature.
We will be happy to help you with additional tips for maintaining your windows.
