Double- or triple-glazed windows?

Double glazing prevails in residential and commercial buildings constructed in the last 40 years. It offers lower thermal insulation compared to modern windows with triple glazing, resulting in smaller energy savings for the entire building.
When should we opt for double-glazed windows?
Double-glazed windows are primarily chosen by customers who want to replace old windows, but wish to invest minimal funds into the renovation. Additionally, the installation of double-glazed windows is a good solution when the building already has significant heat losses through the wall assembly, roof, ground floor or basement spaces, and we want to reduce heat loss, improve living quality and increase the comfort of the space.
Double-glazed windows also represent an excellent solution for equipping holiday homes and similar buildings, where the need for thermal insulation is lower due to infrequent use.
Triple-glazed windows offer the best thermal insulation
Triple glazing offers the best thermal insulation for your home and maximizes energy efficiency. We recommend it in low-energy buildings, passive houses and on all buildings where good window insulation contributes to the overall energy savings.
If you opt for double-glazed windows, you are not entitled to the non-repayable Eco Fund subsidy, but if you invest in triple-glazed wooden or wooden-aluminium windows, you will be eligible for the non-repayable Eco Fund subsidy.
One of the most important parameters in choosing the right glazing for our home is undoubtedly the thermal transmittance of the glass (Ug). The lower the thermal transmittance of the glass, the more energy-efficient the glazing. This allows us to save on a monthly basis. The thermal transmittance of glazing depends on the number of glass panes and special coatings, the width of the space between the panes and the type of gas between the panes.
Financial investment and non-repayable Eco Fund subsidies
Triple glazing is a condition for obtaining an Eco Fund subsidy. The process for obtaining the subsidy is simplified for citizens, as the application is submitted after the investment is made, shortening the time for the payout of the non-repayable subsidy. It can be obtained on request by the property owner or co-owner, a close family member, a tenant or the holder of a building right on buildings whose building permit was issued before July 1, 2010.
