Simple maintenance of wooden windows

We recommend that you thoroughly inspect your windows once a year. With the caring milk from our maintenance kit, you can also repair microscopic damage yourself.
Annual window inspection
We recommend paying some attention to the wooden part of the window during spring cleaning. If you notice any mechanical damage, you can repair it yourself. Coat the window with caring milk, which seals microscopic cracks in the coating film and creates a new protective layer. This simple surface treatment process helps extend the life of the coating.

Jelovica windows are protected during production
During production, our wooden windows are protected with water-dilutable coatings in a glaze system where the wood texture is visible, and in a covering system where the wood texture is not visible. We provide a 5-year warranty for wooden windows. With every purchase, we also offer specific maintenance advice to our customers which depeneds depends on the type of wood, the type of surface treatment, and weather exposure.
At Jelovica, we recommend re-coating windows after 10 years, but it is not mandatory. If you opt for it, first lightly sand the wooden surface and apply a water-dilutable coating with a brush.
Wooden windows should be surface treated
At Jelovica, we advise against purchasing raw and unprotected wooden windows as we cannot provide a warranty for windows that have not been surface treated. Unprotected wood reacts to ambient moisture, shrinking and swelling, which causes dimensional changes and affects the function of the window. As the humidity of the wood increases to around 20 percent, fungi begin to develop. Unprotected wood turns gray under the influence of UV rays, so we recommend our customers to protect the window surface with coatings according to the color chart.
